Test the hypothesis using the P-value approach. Be sure to verify the requirements of the test. Upper H 0H0: p equals=0.3 versus Upper H 1H1: p greater than>0.3 n equals=125; x equals=43; alphaαequals=0.1

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution :

This is the right tailed test .

The null and alternative hypothesis is

H0 : p = 0.3

Ha : p > 0.3

= x / n = 43 / 125 = 0.344

Test statistic = z

= - P0 / [P0 * (1 - P0 ) / n]

= 0.344 - 0.3 / [(0.3 * 0.7) / 125]

= 1.0735

P-value = 0.1415

= 0.1

P-value >

Fail to reject the null hypothesis .
