Find the following probabilities of Jake drawing the given marbles from the bag if the first marble(s) is(are) not returned to the bag after they are drawn.

a) A Blue, then a red =

b) A red, then a white =

c) A Blue, then a Blue, then a Blue =

Answer #1

Total marbles = 3 + 1 + 6 = 10

a) P(a blue, then a red) =

Hence, 1/5 or 0.2 is the probability of getting A blue then a red.

b) P(red, then a white) =

Hence, 1/15 is the probability of getting A red, then a white.

c) P(blue, then blue, then blue) =

Hence 1/120 is the probability of getting a, blue, then a blue then a blue.

As we are not returning the selected ball that's why denominator is reducing by 1 in all these parts.

Please comment if any doubt. Thank you.
