The campaign manager for a candidate for governor in Arizona wants to conduct a poll to better understand his candidate’s chances for the upcoming election.

1. What is the population of interest?
2. Why may the poll be biased if a simple random sample of voters in the last gubernatorial election (four years prior) is taken?

a)-The population of interest will be eligible voters of Arizona who will cast vote .(i.e voter list)

b)The poll may be biased if simple random sample is taken because in simple random sample it may be only a group of people is selected then it will give biased result..(e.g like if we have taken simple random sample and in sample there comes only elder voter then definitely it will be biased)

Conclusion- so it will better to use some other sampling techniques like stratified sampling where we already classify the population in subgroups and then take samples it causes less biasedness.
