What advantage does a histogram with a density scale (on the Y-axis) have over a histogram with a frequency scale (on the Y-Axis)?
Following is the advantage of density scale over frequency scale on Y axis
i) The most important reason being that the density scale is bounded above by 1 wheras the frequency scale is not bounded above, hence if we use the density scale we can get interesting conclusions as compared to frequency scale.
ii) If we have a frequency scale we can't directly plot the density curve on it which further creates a problem because we can't compare the histogram with some probability density function.
iii) It is difficult to interpret the frequency scale because to interpret it we should know the total number of observations and it is quite tedious to find that and then interpreting it so instead density plot helps us because of its bounded nature.
Thank you !!
