Placebo and placebo effects--------

In experiment, subjects respond differently after they receive a treatment, even if the treatment is neutral. A neutral treatment that has no real effect on the dependent variable is called a placebo and a subject's positive response to a placebo is placebo effect.. .

Example----- a sugar pill that's used in a control group during a clinical trial. The placebo effect is when an improvement of symptoms is observed...despite using a nonactive treatment....
