dependent variable is that variable whose value is dependent on the independent variable

we can see that the bringe drinking is related to high school students

this means whether a student is from high scool or not, is the independent variable

and student's partaking in binge drinking is dependent variable as the binge drinking depends upon whether a student is a high school student or not.
