There are two classifications :

Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics .

Descriptive statistics gives idea about summary charts table but it not helpful for drawing a conclusions .

While Inferential statistics is useful for drawing a conclusions about population like doing ANOVA, CHI SQUARED, T test and much more.

Therefore pie chart is chart form which gives better idea of summary which is used as descriptive statistics .
