Meaning of term treatment :
In ANOVA analysis, the factor is an explanatory variable manipulated by the experimenter. Each factor has two or more levels, i.e., different values of the factor. Combinations of factor levels are called treatments.
The factor is also known as independent variable.
When treatment in an ANOVA problem, you really mean the sample (treatment 1, treatment 2 = sample 1, sample 2).
Example 1 :
Sale of furniture in year 2017.
Treatment 1 : Number of furnitures sold in January. Treatment 2 : Number of furnitures sold in March Treatment 3 : Number of furnitures sold in August
Example 2 :
Groups of Students
Treatment 1 : Students studying from 1am-10am Treatment 2 : Students studying from 12pm - 9pm Treatment 3 : Students studying from 9am-6pm.
