Sometimes categories are combined in a process of data reduction to be able to apply specific analysis that would be meaningful. Can you think of any ways to collapse the BMI data into two levels for analysis? Select one other possible reduction that would lead to a meaningful analysis of independence or equal proportions. BMI can be classified into two categories ie Overweight and Underweight based on the value ie if the value is less than 25 then it is Underweight and else it is Overweight.

Further if we want to classify into 3 categories then they can be Obese, Overweight and Underweight. Values above 30 can be classified as Obese, values less than 25 can be Underweight and remaining can be known as Overweight.

To test whether there is equal proportion we could classify the known sample in either of these groups and then Chi Square Test to test our hypothesis.
