Suppose that you roll two dice. What is the probability that the two dice are equal or differ by at most one?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Let us first get the sample of two rolling dice

Now P(equal)=6/36=0.1667

P(at most one)=16/36=0.4444

Now P(equal and at most one)=6/36

So P(equal or at most one)=P(equal)+P(at most one)-P(equal and at most one))=0.1667+0.4444-0.1667=0.4444
