Find the sample standard deviation

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution:

Given that,

8.4,6.6,3,1.1,11.9

a )The mean of sample is

x/n =  (8.4+ 6.6 + 3 + 1.1 + 11.9 / 5)

= 6.2

The sample mean is 6.2

(c) median= the median is the middle most observation of the data set

Sample standard deviation is s

s = 1/(n-1)(x - )2

=  1/4 (8.4 - 6.2 )2+ (6.6 - 6.2 )2+ (3- 6.2 )2+ (1.1- 6.2 )2 +( 11.9 - 6.2 )2

= 18.435

= 4.2935

The sample standard deviation is  4.2935
