Scenario:

Consider a state in United States. The point of interest is to find the distribution of working hours of all the employees in the state. Working hours of the employees should be collected of those who live in that state. Assume the state as Texas.

Population:

Employees/ people who work in Texas.

Sample:

A sample of size n which is smaller than the population is drawn and is denoted as xi where i=1,2,3,...,n.

Parameter :

Population mean working hours of the employees in Texas state.

Statistics :

Sample mean working hours of the employees in the sample drawn from the population.

Variable:

Working hours(time) is the variable in the given scenario.

Data:

The working hours of the employees in the Texas state is the data to be collected.

Learning:

Texas is the one of the busiest states of U.S. Therefore the working hours of the employees would be higher as usual.
