Im doing a research report on STD prevalence specifically chlamydia and gonorrhea. How can I use binomial or normal distribution to analyze this data?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

USE OF BINOMIAL OR NORMAL DISTRIBUTION TO ANALYZE STD DATA:

Binomial or Normal Distribution can be used to analyze STD (Sexually Transmitted Disease) as follows:

Suppose in a certain locality, by previous investigation, the probability of STD prevalence is known to be equal to p. Then, by using Binomial Distribution, we can calculate the probability that among the n persons, x persons will have STD.

When the number of persons = n is large, making the application of Binomial Distribution quite tedious we can employ Normal Distribution to the data after applying necessary continuity correction.

Such a study will enable the social worker to take appropriate remedial measures.

I am doing a research project, my topic is looking at how sleep, or lack of sleep affects ones weight. The prompt for the theory is below. Identify the theory you will test with this hypothesis. Define it and explain a little bit about it (this requires citations). Then state specifically how this theory informs your hypothesis, and how you are testing this theory by testing your hypothesis. o If no named theory exists to inform your hypothesis, you have...

You are conducting research on the prevalence of severe binge drinking among college students. You define severe binge drinking as consuming 5 or more alcoholic beverages at a single sitting. You ask the question: “On how many days in the past two weeks have you consumed 5 or more drinks at one time? The answers can range from 0 to 14. You collect data on a random sample of 400 students. The average for this sample in 1.42 with a...

Q1)When should I use the Shapiro-Wilk test? Remember that some tests, such as chi squared, can be used under various circumstances. The goal of the test changes based on the situation. Pay attention to the specific conditions noted in parenthesis to ensure you are picking the correct goal. A. Compare two treatment groups when a normal distribution cannot be assumed. B. More than two treatment groups where a normal distribution can be assumed. C. Test to see if the frequency...
