QUESTION 4

  1. Determine if each of the following statements is True or False with full justification explaining your reasoning.
  1. In multiple regression, a large R square indicates all independent variables will have a significant effect on the dependent variable if the significance level is set to 5%.

  1. In multiple regression, if an you have an independent variable with a large p-value (close to 1), this independent variable cannot be used to predict the dependent variable.

  1. In simple regression, a Multiple R close to 1 indicates a strong positive linear relationship between the IV and DV.

Answer #1

i. False.

In multiple regression large R square indicates that, the model fits the data well. A large value of R square indicates that, large amount of variation in the response variable is explained by the predictor variables.

ii. False. In multiple regression model, if we have an independent variable with large p value(close to 1) which means it in not significant in the model. We may ommit this, but this variable may be jointly significant with other variables.

iii.True.

In simple regression model, multiple R close to 1 indicates a strong positive linear relationship between independent variable (IV) and dependent variable (DV).

iv. False.

When referring to the sample, sample statistics may be larger than, smaller than or equal to the population parameter. Based on the statistics inference about the population parameter are drawn.

MBA 5008 Quantitative Analysis The question presented to me which I dont fully understand and requesting assitance in answering. When developing a simple regression model one utilizes a method to predict a linear relationship between a dependent variable and an independent variable. However, there may be more than one independent variable that affect the dependent variable. In this case we utilize the multiple regression method. 1. Describe the objective in using simple and or multiple regression models. 2. What does...

Section 2: True or False Please indicate whether the following statements are True, False, or Undetermined. Statement True False Undetermined Two variables that are highly correlated are causally related. Observed points closest to the regression line are given more weight than points far away (i.e., outliers).    The standard deviation is only useful as a measure of dispersion for normally distributed variables. Two variables that have no observed correlation cannot be causally related. When a survey sample has a potential bias...

1. Which of the following statements are true of One-way ANOVA test? a. It is a robust test (with sufficiently large samples and relatively equal groups) even when the sample data are statistically significantly different from normal distribution. b. All of the other statements are correct. c. It involves a dependent variable measured on a continuous scale. d. It involves an independent variable measured on a categorical scale with 2+ groups/categories. e.It compares the mean/average scores of the 2+ groups...

Which of the following statements about the regression standard error hold TRUE? (2p) I. The regression standard error reflects the variation of the y-values about the regression line. II. The regression standard error is an estimate of the model standard deviation . III. The larger the regression standard error is, the better the model fits the data and the more precise inference about the regression model will be. A) I B) I and II C) II and III D) I,...

For each of the following statements, identify whether the statement is true or false, and explain why. Please limit each response to no more than 3 sentences. i) A p-value is the probability that the null hypothesis is false. ii) A chi-square test statistic can never be negative. iii) If we reject the null hypothesis that a population proportion is equal to a specific value, then that specific value will not be contained in the associated confidence interval. iv) If...

2: A real estate agent is interested in what factors determine the selling price of homes in Northwest Arkansas. She takes a random sample of 20 homes, and conducts a multiple regression analysis. The dependent variable is price of the home (in thousands of dollars), the square footage of the home, and whether the home is located in a new subdivision (0 = no; 1 = yes). The results of the multiple regression analysis are shown below. Answer the following...

Mabel, a real estate agent, is looking for a method of predicting the selling prices of houses in Burnaby. Since the City of Burnaby appraises houses for the purpose of assessing taxes, she investigates a small sample of recently sold houses to see if there is a linear relationship between the appraised value and the selling price. Her data is in this table: Appraised Value ($1,000’s) Selling Price ($1,000’s) 250 257 190 250 220 288 185 162 270 285 500...
