Suppose that A and B are two events for which P(A)=0.19, P(B)=0.65, and P(B|A)=0.38 Find each of the following:

A. P(AandB)=P(AandB)=

B. P(AorB)=P(AorB)=

C. P(A|B)=P(A|B)=

Homework Answers

Answer #1

A) P(A and B) = P(B|A) * P(A)

                      = 0.38 * 0.19

                      = 0.0722

B) P(A or B) = P(A) + P(B) - P(A and B)

                    = 0.19 + 0.65 - 0.0722

                   = 0.7678

C) P(A|B) = P(B|A) * P(A)/P(B)

               = (0.38 * 0.19)/0.65

               = 0.1111
