In layman’s terms (nothing mathematical), what does a confidence interval tell you?
Confidence interval is basically a range ( Statistically calculated ) in which a particular data value will lie.
For example if some one asks you what might be the average age of all 9th standard students?
You clearly don't know the actual ages but you know that you age is 15 and most of the students are of the same age bracket only.
So, you can say that the average age of all 9th standard students is 14 to 16.
This is the confidence interval in which you are pretty sure that most of the students will lie in.
