In planning and conducting any survey one must follow the steps given below:

1.defining the objective and population under study

2.determining the data to be collected, the method of collection of data and getting the sampling frame

3. Designing the survey(which type of sampling technique to be used, choosing the flexible variables as the no.of strata, whether to conduct a pilot survey or not etc.)

4. Drawing the sample using randomization and proper training for the personnel involved in data collection

5. The conducting or execution stage comprises of identification of the sampled individuals and filling up the questionnaires.
