Answer #1

Answer)

When the data is normally distributed, the best central of tendency is mean

By normal distribution, we mean symmetrical data, there are almost equal data points on each side of mean

Advantage :

Mean = (sum of the observations)/number of observations), as mean uses every value in the data, it is a good representative

Disadvantage :

As mean include every point in data, it also includes outliers.

And when the data is skewed, best central of tendency is median

By skewed, we mean there is a long tail on one side of the peak

Median is the middlemost data point

Advantage :

Median is less affected by the outliers

Disadvantage :

It do not uses every value of the data, so sometimes we do not get the exact central value.

In chapter 3, it was noted that the mean is the most commonly used measure of central tendency. Partly because variance and standard deviation are directly related to the mean, these two values are the most common measures of variability. Explain how variance and standard deviation are related to the mean.
