ANOVA requires 2 assumptions. One is ______. the other is _______ .

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Solution:

There are main three assumptions of ANOVA:

1) Normality: The distribution of residuals should be normal.OR sometimes in full statement,

All the response variables within the k populations follow a normal distributions.

2) Independent samples: That is the samples associated with each population are randomly selected and are independent from all other samples.

3) Equality of variance (homoscedasticity): The response variable within each of the k populations have equal variances.

Most of the time Normality and equality of variance must follow.

Hence, ANOVA requires 2 assumptions. One is Normality and the other is homoscedasticity.

Which of the following(s) is/are correct regarding the assumptions of ANOVA? Select all that applies.    The data within each group are normally distributed.     The dataset as a whole, ignoring group assignment, is normally distributed.     The data in one group are dependent on the data in other groups.     The data within groups are dependent on each other.     All data, within and across groups, is independent.

Is there any difference between a Factorial ANOVA and a One-Way ANOVA? Yes, a Factorial ANOVA has 2+ IVs, whereas a One-Way ANOVA has only 1 IV. Yes, the main purpose of a Factorial ANOVA is to test if two or more groups are significantly different from each other, whereas a One-Way ANOVA compares means across two or more independent variables. No, both tests are the same. Yes, Factorial ANOVA results in the calculation of three F ratios, whereas two...
