Question

Describe what a standard deviation is conceptually.

Answer #1

Answer)

Standard deviation tells us about the distance between data values from mean

Or standard deviation is the average distance of data values from the mean

If we have the following data

8, 8, 8, 8

Standard deviation for this data is 0

As there is no difference in between mean and data values

But if we have data

1, 2, 3, 4

Then we need to follow the below mentioned steps to calculate s.d

Mean = sum of the observations/number of observations

Mean = (1+2+3+4)/4 = 2.5

Then we need to first subtract mean from each and every observation and then we need to take.the square and finally add the results

= (1-2.5)^2 + (2-2.5)^2..

= 5

Now we need to divide by n and take the square root

S.d = √5/4 = 1.12

Briefly explain what the standard error for the t-test for
independent samples tells you (conceptually).

What is variability? Describe range and standard

In general, what does a “small” standard deviation mean? What
does a “large” standard deviation mean?

Describe how the orbitals on a boron atom, in a borane cluster, may
be conceptually hybridised in order to explain the bonding.

1. describe the standard error of the mean.
2. describe the difference between the standard deviation and
the standard error of the mean.
3. What is are the symbols for the standard deviation and the
standard error of the mean (SE or SEM)?
4. What is sampling error?
5. What is the law of large numbers?

Describe in your own words what standard deviation is and what it
can tell you about data. As a nurse how might you use the standard
deviation to better help your patients? Remember to respond to
yours classmates as well.

Describe what happens to the standard deviation when a constant
is added to every score in the distribution (e.g., 8 is added to
every score). Explain your answer

Calculate the sample standard deviation of the data set below
and what does the number describe about the data set.
4，5，6，20，4，34，34

Beside using standard deviation, briefly describe another method
for determining assay sensitivity and specificity. What are the
advantages and disadvantages of these methods?

Calculate the standard deviation of the following test data by
hand. Describe the mean and standard deviation in words after
calculating it. Record the steps. Test Scores: 25, 82, 103, 33, 57,
75, 100, 81, 62, 29

Please answer these two conceptually in mini paragraph form!
Some physics instructors describe situations dealing with
two-dimensional motion as simply being “two, one-dimensional motion
problems”; how might you defend this statement against someone who
believes that two-dimensional motion problems are fundamentally
different from one-dimensional motion problems?

briefly describe how the quantity affects the projectile’s time of
flight.
