Using Minitab software

Suppose an investigator is interested in comparing the weight (ounces) of components produced by two different machines. They are interested in being able to detect a difference of 0.25 ounces between average weights of the components produced by the two different machines, and they believe the variance of the weights will be equal for the two machines being studied. They are conducting a two-sided test with a significance level of a = 0.05. Using preliminary data they have estimated the common standard deviation of the weight to be 0.4 ounces. What is the total number of samples they would need to achieve a power of 0.9?

The data below give the weights in ounces of randomly-selected bars of bath soap produced by two different molding machines. Weights (ounces) Machine 1 11.4 12.4 12.1 11.8 11.8 11.7 12.3 12.0 11.8 Machine 2 13.0 12.4 12.4 12.1 12.3 12.1 12.5 12.0 12.1 The question of interest is whether these two molding machines produce soap bars of differing average weight. The computed test statistic was found to be -2.75. Find the approximate P-value for the this test assuming that...

7. (07.02 MC) Oscar, a yoga instructor at Yoga for You, is interested in comparing levels of physical fitness of students attending a nearby high school and those attending a local community college. He selects a random sample of 210 students from the high school. The mean and standard deviation of their fitness scores are 82 and 14, respectively. He also selects a random sample of 210 students from the local community college. The mean and standard deviation of their...
