Explain why the government and other entities generally report the median.

When values are distributed evenly,mean will be similar to median.

We can take an example, If a government discloses a data of income of citizens of city where everyone makes money about 50000$ , here mean will be same as of median

But if 2-3 billionaire move to our city then our mean will affect so much if we talk about median it will remain approximately same (50000$).so here we can see that median shows the correct picture or situation of city inspite of mean.

So by this example one can have an idea that why government reports data or entities in median.
