applying the concepts. for exercises 35-42, do the following.

a. state the hypothesis.

b. find zcrit and the critical region.

c. find zdata. also, draw a standard normal z curve showing zcrit, the critical region, and zdata.

D. state the conclusion and interpretation.

35. Facebook Connections. According to facebook.com, the mean number of community pages, groups, and events that users are connected to is 80. A random sample of 64 Facebook users showed a mean of 86 connections to community pages, groups, and events. Assume Θ=48. Test using the level of significance p=0.05 whether the population mean number of connections to community pages, groups, and events is greater than 80.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The hypothesis being tested is:

H0: µ = 80

Ha: µ > 80

The z-critical value is 1.645.

The test statistic, z = (x - µ)/σ/√n

z = (86 - 80)/48/√64 = 1.00

The p-value is 0.1587.

Since the p-value (01587.) is greater than the significance level (0.05), we fail to reject the null hypothesis.

Therefore, we cannot conclude that the population mean number of connections to community pages, groups, and events is greater than 80.

Please give me a thumbs-up if this helps you out. Thank you!
