I am writing an research paper for statistics my hypothesis : Mother’s highest degree results in the number of children she is having?

I'm asking if this makes sense? Or am I contradicting myself because I'm already stating she is a mother

My variables came from the GSS file.

Independent variable: Mother’s highest degree

Dependent variable: Number of children

Answer #1

Yes, this makes sense.

"Mother’s highest degree results in the number of children she is having" can be a good topic for a research hypothesis. Here you can use various tests to see if there is any relationship between the two variables using a Chi-square test. Also, you can use ANOVA. In both of the scenarios make groups according to the mother's highest degree.

You can also use linear regression or logistic regression for the same.

I hope you get going with your work.
