Drawing Conclusions From Data, Collect, Concept, Analyze
Directions: Based on the examples used in class as well as those you have researched, the goal is to create a question that has your classmates thinking. Consider a researcher collecting data of some sort with a random selection. Is the data that this researcher gathered correct? What can be assumed from this data? Look back at the PDFs I have posted on Google Classroom for assistance. Have fun!
(INTEREST EXAMPLE) Emma has been studying famous tourist attractions in Italia, specifically in Roma and Capria. The data she collected is shown is below.
People who live in Roma and vacation in Amalfii |
People who live in Capria and vacation in Amalfii |
40% |
20% |
The probability that a randomly selected Italian vacations on the Amalfii coast is 0.60. Emma assumes her data is correct. Is there anything else we should assume about her data to make sure she is right? State the assumptions.
I think you have answered the question in the right direction but I would like to modify it.
assumptions-
1) Roma and capria are the only cities that constitute italy.
2) we don't need to make any assumption about how many people are there.
3)inter city migration is not allowed otherwise demography would change.
4) No need to assume that there is only one tourist destination we can have more than one tourist destination but the population doesn't live there. So if there are let's say 5 destinations 40% from roma would go to Amalfii and rest 60% from roma would go to other destinations or do not go at all. Similarly 20% from capria go to amalfii and rest 80% go to other destinations or do not go at all.
