How do you determine whether or not the paired t test is appropriate for a two-sample hypothesis? Please give an example.
The paired sample t-test, sometimes called the dependent sample t-test, is a statistical procedure used to determine whether the mean difference between two sets of observations is zero. In a paired sample t-test, each subject is measured twice, resulting in pairs of observations.
A paired t-test is used when we are interested in the difference between two variables for the same subject.
If each subject is measured at different time points then we can use paired t test.
Example:
Suppose we have data for weight of subjects before planned exercise and after planned exercise then we can use paired t test for mean weight reduction.
Suppose we wish to determine if the cholesterol levels of the men in US and India changed from 1980 to 1995.
