How is the Standard Error different from the estimated standard error?

Answer #1

There are following difference between standard error and estimated standard error:

1: Standard error is the standard deviation of statistic. It means that standard error comes from the sample . Standard error is the the expected value whereas estimated error is predictable value or residuals.

2:Standard error is the amount by which an observation differe from its expected value. the standard error are unobservable random variable, assumed to have zero mean and uncorrelated elements, each with common variance. Whereas a estimated error(Residual) is an observable estimate of the unobservable error. Like the standard error each of the residuals are has zero mean but each residuals may have a different variance.

3: Standard error are uncorrelated but residuals or estimated standard error are correlated.

4: Residuals are linear combination of the standard error .
