Describe the Sample Space for the experiment of selecting one card from a deck of regular playing cards and what is the probability associated with each sample point?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

If we select 1 card at random we can get any one of the 52 cards and The sample space is the set of all possible outcomes, So ,Sample Space are all 52 Cards.( king(4),Queen(4),Jack(4), Ace(4) , (2-10 numbered)(36))

So, S = {all 52 Cards}

the probability associated with each sample point :

1) Pr( getting a king) = ( No. of kings )/ total cards

= 4/52

2) pr( getting a Queen) = ( No. of Queen )/ total cards

= 4/52

3) Pr(getting a jack)= ( No. of Queen )/ total cards

= 4/52

4) Pr( getting an ace ) = ( No. of Aces )/ total cards

= 4/52

5) Pr( getting a card numbered 2 with red color ) = 2/52

any doubts please ask !! thank you !!:))))
