Answer #1

The 3 types of t-tests are-

  i) One sample t-test-   This one sample t-test is used , when we want to test whether the mean of a single population is equal to some specific value.

ii) Two sample t -test- This two sample t- test is used for two independent population. This is used to test the difference between the means of two independent populations is equla to a apecific value.

iii) Paired t - test'= This is used to find whteher the difference between two dependent population is equal to some specific value.

To compare the braking distances for two types of tires, a safety engineer conducts break tests for each type. The results of the tests are given below. TypeA: x1 =55ft, s1 =5.3ft, n1 =25 TypeB: x2 =51ft, s2 =4.9ft, n2 =29 Assume the samples are independent, and that the population standard deviations are not equal. At = 0.05 , is there enough evidence to support the claim that the mean breaking distance for the Type A tires is greater than...

A Chemist plans to investigate the effects of four types of catalyst and three types of reagents on the rate of a chemical reaction. Suppose that the amount of each type of catalyst and reagent, if decided to add, is fixed. Also, at most one type of catalyst and one type of reagent can be added simultaneously. Before planning the experiment she seeks your advice on how to run the experiment. She has written to you as follows: “I intend...

If it is appropriate, conduct the analysis and report the result. You are a patrol captain attending a staff meeting. An analyst that works for your department is presenting the results of a study intended to determine which of four separate patrol strategies are the most effective at reducing speeding around schools. The analyst states that he conducted a series of t-tests to compare the frequency of speed violations within four neighborhoods with different types of patrol strategies. He concludes that Strategy A is the most effective because the frequency of...
