Rebecca is using an F-distribution for a hypothesis test. She finds that the critical value is 3.64 and the test statistic is 2.95. What conclusion should she draw?

Answer #1

usually we need to do F test of equality of variances of two independent population. decision rule of F test : we can Accept our null hypothesis when F<F<F . where F is our test statistics and m is number drawn sample from 1st sample and n is sample size from 2nd population .

now look at Rebecca. She got F= 2.95 and critical value is at certain significance level alpha 3.64. 3.64>2.95 . So she should accept null hypothesis. there might be a conclusion such that variances of two sample are equal to each other .
