Highlighted below is the answer. Steps to get the answer in detail are below. Let me know if you don't have any doubts. Have a good weekend!

Given in the question :

Total population = 8.4 million (male) + 8.6 million( female)

Total literate population = 75% of male pop + 63% of female pop

= .75*8.4 + .63*8.6 million = 11.718 million

Lets calculate what' asked in Question:

The percentage of total population that' literate

= (total literate population ( 11.718 million ) / total population ( 17 million)) * 100%

= (11.718 / 17 ) * 100%

= 68.93% ( rounded off to 2 digits after decimal)

Answer: Percentage of the total population is literate is 69.93%
