The “death postponement theory” is the idea of people postponing death until after their birthdays. There's a study that looked at death rates in an ethnically Chinese, California community before and after the Harvest Moon Festival. The researchers observed that 33 people in the community died the week before the Harvest festival while 70 died the week after. Perform an appropriate hypothesis test to determine if the proportion of individuals who die the week before the festival as opposed to the week after is significantly difference from 1/2. Note: Please either use a small sample size tests OR justify the use of the large.
Using n1 = 1000 and n2= 1200 as if 33 and 70 persons die in a community within two weeks then there must be a sample of at least 1000-2000 people.
