Specify the rejection region associated with a test of hypothesis for the following combinations of Ha, α, and n:

Ha : µ < 10, α = 0.05, n = 17 (assume that the sampled population was normal).

(a)Z < −1.645

(b)Z < −1.96

(c)t < −2.12

(d)t < −1.746

Answer #1

Solution: Option[D] is correct

Given information

Ha : µ < 10, α = 0.05, n = 17 (assume that the sampled population was normal).

here alternative hypothesis is less than type so this is left tailed test with sample size less than 30 so we used t test for finding rejection region .

degress of freedom=df=n-1=17-1=16

and α = 0.05 is the significance level.

The t-critical value for a left-tailed test, for a significance level of α=0.05 is

tc=-1.746
