In hypothesis testing, why is it said that we are not proving the effect of IV?

in hypothesis testing

we have to make null hypothesis and alternative hypothesis

in this example we have

null hypothesis,

H0=We are proving the effect of IV

and alternative hypothesis,

H1=we are not proving the effect of IV

after using test statistic or some non parametric test to test the effect of IV,we test the p value of test statistic with level of significance .

if P value<a then we reject null hypothesis.

if p value>a then we accept null hypothesis.
