Given :-

Mean () = 14

Standard deviation () = 3.4

Using Empirical rule.

a)  68% of the students spend between hours and hours on Statistics each week is

= 14 - 3.4 = 10.6

= 14 + 3.4 = 17.4

b) 95% of the students spend between hours and hours on Statistics each week is

= 14 - (2*3.4) = 7.2

= 14 + (2*3.4) = 20.8

c) 99.7% of the students spend between hours and hours on Statistics each week is

= 14 - (3*3.4) = 3.8
