Blinded study: A study done in such a way that the patients or subjects do not know what treatment they are receiving to ensure that the results are not affected by a placebo effect ..There are three type of studies

Single blinded study

Double blinded study

Triple blinded study

Strengths:

1. Demonstrate cause effect relationship

2. Only appropriate for some research questions

3. All investigators to control the exposure level of as needed

4. May produce faster and cheaper answer than observational studies

Weakness:

1. Often more costly in time and money.

2. Many research questions are not suitable for blinding.

3. May have limited generalizability due to the use of volunteers , eligibility criteria,and loss to follow up .
