Find the following probabilities. Round to two decimal places.

  1. P(Z > 1.00) (1 pts)
  2. P(Z < -1.15) (1 pts)
  3. P (-1.96 < Z < 1.96) (2 pts)
  4. P (Z > 2.32) (1 pts)

Answer #1

Using standard normal z-table we get the following probabilities,

A) P(Z > 1.00) = 1 - P(Z < 1.00) = 1 - 0.8413 = 0.1587

=> P(Z > 1.00) = 0.1587

B) P(Z < -1.15) = 1 - P(Z < 1.15) = 1 - 0.8749 = 0.1251

=> P(Z < -1.15) = 0.1251

C) P(-1.96 < Z < 1.96)

= 2 * P(Z < 1.96) - 1

= (2 * 0.9750) - 1

= 1.9500 - 1

= 0.9500

=> P(-1.96 < Z < 1.96) = 0.9500

D) P(Z > 2.32) = 1 - P(Z < 2.32) = 1 - 0.9898 = 0.0102

=> P(Z > 2.32) = 0.0102
