Answer #1

Given that,

mean = = 25.2

standard deviation = =0.18

Using standard normal table,

P(Z > z) = 10%

= 1 - P(Z < z) = 0.10

= P(Z < z ) = 1 - 0.10

= P(Z < z ) = 0.9

= P(Z < 1.28) = 0.9

z = 1.28 (using standard normal (Z) table )

Using z-score formula

x = z * +

x= 1.28 * 0.18+25.2

x= 25.43

6) The Lola cereal company claims that the average weight of a cereal box is at least 650 grams. Gordon has calculated the average weight of a sample of 25 boxes of cereal to be 620 grams with the standard deviation of 20 grams. Is this providing enough evidence that the average box of cereal is at least 650 grams? Test this hypothesis at 0.1 significance level.

A box of cereal is listed as containing 10 ounces of oat-nut clusters. A consumer-rights groups found that a random sample of 76 boxes had an average weight of Y¯ = 9.876 ounces with a sample standard deviation of S = 0.483. Is there evidence at the α = 0.01 level that the boxes are being systematically under-filled? Use p-value to draw the conclusion.

A cereal manufacturer is concerned that the boxes of cereal not be under filled or overfilled. Each box of cereal is supposed to contain 13 ounces of cereal. A random sample of 36 boxes is tested. The sample average weight is 12.58 ounces and the sample standard deviation is 0.95 ounces. We will use the p-value approach to test whether the population average weight of cereal box differs from 13 ounces. (Four decimal places) 1)The appropriate test static for above...
