Question

What are the difficulties with reporting mode for interval/ ratio variables?

What are the difficulties with reporting mode for interval/ ratio variables?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

The interval and ratio scale measures continuous data. It might happen that in a sample dataset all the values are appearing once since the dataset is continuous. Suppose we want to take sample weights of 50 people with weight measured in kilograms (upto two decimals). It is unlikely that two values will be same in this case. Hence, the data will be multimodal with all the individual values being mode. Hence, mode does not make much sense in interval/ratio data.
