Answer #1

Names of the two hypothesis in statistical analysis

1) Null hypothesis : It is the hypothesis of no difference

2) Alternative hypothesis : hypothesis complementary to null hypothesis

Two possibile decisions 1) rejecting the null hypothesis i.e accepting alternative hypothesis

2) Accepting null hypothesis i.e. rejecting the alternative hypothesis

Type 1 error is rejecting the null hypothesis when it is true

Type 2 error is accepting the null hypothesis when it is false

P value is probability of obtaining results as extreme as observed result of hypothesis test.. under the assumption that the null hypothesis is true

1.) One tailed test or two tailed test? You are performing a hypothesis test for the mean sample weight of your fellow Intro to Statistics students. For your null hypothesis , the hypothesized mean weight for the entire campus student body is 165. You have no reason to know for your alternative hypothesis whether the actual mean weight for the entire student campus body is more or less than 165. So you decide to make your alternative hypothesis as not...

For this discussion board, come up with an example of a hypothesis test that could be conducted. State the null and alternative hpothesis. Then state what it would mean to have a type I vs. a type II error in the given situation. Explain which you think is "worse" given the circumstances. An example is given below using "the boy who cried wolf": Null hypothesis: Wolf is not present Alternative hypothesis: Wolf is present Type I error: The boy cries...
