A mean average of 80 or greater for five exams is needed for a final grade of B in a course. Jorge's first four exam grades are 73, 69, 85, an 80. What grade does Jorge need on the fifth exam to get a B in the course? Must Jorge get exactly the grade you calculated? Can he receive a higher or lower grade and still get a B?

Homework Answers

Answer #1

for B grade

mean score >= 80

therefore,

total score >= 80*5

total score >= 400

let grade in 5th exam = G

total score = 73 + 69 + 85 + 80 + G

73 + 69 + 85 + 80 + G >= 400

307 + G >= 400

G >= 93

jorge needs 93 or higher grade in 5th exam

Must Jorge get exactly the grade you calculated?

NO, he needs atleast 93, he must not score less than that

Can he receive a higher or lower grade and still get a B?

He can get B if he scores higher but not if he scores lesser
