You would like to know whether the daily snowfall is associated with the frequency of a particular species of bird: the Canadian Snowbird. Unfortunately, the data you have only tells you whether it snowed more or less than average each night, not exactly how much. Your bird data is better, telling you the exact number of Snowbirds that were seen each day. Describe what statistic(s) you would use to analyze these data fully. How would you determine its statistical significance? Explain exactly what your analysis would tell you about the relationship between snowfall and the appearance of Snowbirds. If the analysis were statistically significant, would you conclude that the level of snowfall causes the birds to arrive and depart? Why or why not?
