A quality control manager suspects that two production lines producing magnets are not producing the same proportion of defective magnets. If a random sample of 250 magnets from production line 1 has 11 defective magnets and if a random sample of 300 magnets from the production line 2 has 17 defective magnets. The manager would like to know whether line 1 produces fewer defective magnets than line 2. Use a 0.10 level of significance

A quality control engineer is interested in estimating the proportion of defective items coming off a production line. In a sample of 200 items, 28 are defective. Find the 95% confidence interval for the proportion of defectives from this production line Interpret the results (the interval) you got.

1) The quality control manager of a large candy factory considers the production process to be out of control when defects exceed 3%. In a random sample of 85 items, the defect rate is 5.9%. The control officer states that this is only a sample deviation and that the production line is not really out of control. At the 0.01 level of significance, test the control manager's claim. You are a quality control manager in a chainsaw manufacturer company, producing chainsaws in 4 different sizes in three factories. Each day, Factory 1 produces 21 small and 21 medium chainsaws; Factory 2 produces 21 medium and 21 large chainsaws; and Factory 3 produces 14 medium, 14 large and 14 extra large chainsaws. Assuming that you select 6 products randomly for quality control purposes, what is the probability that you will find 6 large chainsaws, at least 5 of which...

An online clothing retailer monitors its order-filling process. Each week, the quality control manager selects a random sample of size n = 350 orders that have been filled but have not shipped. The contents of the shipping container are checked against the items ordered by the customer (including color and size categories), and the order is categorized as defective or non-defective. A p chart is used to identify whether or not the process is in control. The graph below shows...
