    1. What does the rate of change represent in this problem? Interpret the answer in the context of the problem.

  1. Determine the y-intercept and interpret the meaning in context of the problem.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

a).the rate of change represent the slope, which is equal to - 2

interpretation:-

after opening their strand, with 1 minute increase in time the number of hotdogs will decrease by 2 unit.

in other words, after opening their strand , with 1 minute increase in time, 2 hotdogs are supposed to be sold.

b).the y intercept = 200

interpretation:-

after 0 minutes of opening their strand, that is before opening their strand..the number of hotdogs is 200.

in other words, they had opened their strand with 200 hotdogs.

1. Suppose the equation p(x,y)=-2x^2+80x-3y^2+90+100 models profit when x represents the number of handmade chairs and y is the number of handmade rockers produced per week. (1) How many chairs and how many rockers will give the maximum profit when there is not constraint? (2) Due to an insufficient labor force they can only make a total of 20 chairs and rockers per week (x + y = 20). So how many chairs and how many rockers will give the...

4) The correlation coefficient r is a sample statistic. What does it tell us about the value of the population correlation coefficient ρ (Greek letter rho)? You do not know how to build the formal structure of hypothesis tests of ρ yet. However, there is a quick way to determine if the sample evidence based on ρ is strong enough to conclude that there is some population correlation between the variables. In other words, we can use the value of...
