Find the initial number of bacteria X introduced into the potato salad:

_______ bacteria

Estimate the number of bacteria in the food 4 hours after contamination.

_______ bacteria

Homework Answers

Answer #1

growth rate =170 % this means each hour number of bacteria is mutiplied by 1.7 to that in previous hour

So, P(t)= Po(1.7)^t

A/Q : Three hours after contamination, there were 45,000 bacteria X in the potato salad.

So, P(3) = Po(1.7)^3=45000

=>Po= 9159.37 = 9159

So,the initial number of bacteria X introduced into the potato salad: is  9159 bacteria

Now, P(4)= Po(1.7)^4 = 9159.37 (1.7)^4 = 76500

the number of bacteria in the food 4 hours after contamination. 76500 bacteria
