A data set of size n = 25 is presented by the frequency table
below. Only some of the table entries are Given.
Obtain the frequencies of the distinct data values.
Frequency Table
Distinct Cumulative Relative
Values Frequencies Frequencies
1 3
3 7
6 0.40
10
19
15
The frequencies are (in the order of the values):
The complete table is shown below
Distinct Values | Frequencies | Cumulative Frequencies | Relative Frequencies |
1 | 3 | 3 | 0.12 |
3 | 4 | 7 | 0.16 |
6 | 10 | 17 | 0.40 |
10 | 2 | 19 | 0.08 |
15 | 6 | 25 | 0.24 |
25 | 1 |
Explanation
We can find the frequency of distinct values from Cumulative frequencies
frequency of (x=1) = F(1) = 3
frequency of (x=3) = F(3)-F(1) = 7-3 =4
For X = 6 we find frequency by relative frequency
frequency of (x=6) = N*0.4 = 25*0.4 = 10
frequency of (x=10) = F(10)-F(6) = 19-17 =2
Now F(5) = 25 as we have total of 25 observations.
so
frequency of (x=15) = F(15)-F(10) = 25-19 =6
