1. Establish the appropriate hypotheses for the following
situations:
to. A company has used a process for many months to manufacture a
product. Design and manufacturing engineers have developed a new
process. Two controlled experiments were carried out, one for each
method, in order to compare the methods. The process will only be
changed if there is strong evidence that the proportion of good
parts increased by 5%.
b. You are an engineer in charge of a process on the production
line. It is known that the nitrogen concentration in the mixture
must be .02 gm / liter in order for the process to give the
appropriate results. If the nitrogen concentration is too high or
too low the process gets out of control and you have to stop
production to adjust the process.
c. You work for a specialized car magazine. Your task is to do an experiment with two brands of gasoline to determine if there is a difference in the average yield.
d. The Admissions office has been using the scores of the University Aptitude Exam. The scoring distribution is Normal with = 2200 and = 100. The company Real Intelligence proposes the use of a new test called the Intelligence and Skills Index. will be changed only if there is an increase in variability. For an experiment was done with 400 students using only the new test.
