Cataracts of the eye may be difficult to diagnose in the early stages. In a study to evaluate the reliability of their diagnoses, two physicians each examined the same 1,000 eyes, without knowing the other’s diagnoses. Each physician found 100 eyes with cataracts.
1. How does reliability affect screening and treatment programs for a condition?
2. What are the socio-political ramifications of understanding reliability prior to implementing a screening program?
Answer:
1)
2)
Cataract which is prenatal is hard to find out and also in some cases due to the least awareness in the society the eleders doesnt come to the doctors untill there is a very severe condition. In the primary stages of cataract its hard for the doctors to diagnose because it is misunderstood by short sightedness. Also due to lack of advanced facilities in the society in hospitals to diagnose cataract decrease the chances of reliability.
