Question

Based on your understanding of correlation, do you think using regression is really necessary? Why or why not?

Answer #1

Explanation-

Testing for association only will need correlation... regression analysis is required when there is need to say how given one variable you can predict the other

So correlation is used to denote association between two quantitative variables while regression is used to estimate the best straight line to summarize the association...so regression means if two variables are related that when one changes by a certain amount of other changes on an avg by a certain amount ..if y represents dependent variable and x represents independent variable ,this relation is described as regression Y on x..

So yes regression is necessary...(ans)
