A college was interested in whether a new software procedure allowed students to reserve baseball tickets more efficiently than their old system. Over the past several years, the mean time to reserve tickets was 3.1 minutes. The college randomly sampled 27 students who reserved tickets and tracked the time it took these student to get through the new system. The college found that the students had a mean time of 2.9 minutes (SD = 0.3013) to reserve tickets through the system.

What type of statistical test should be conducted to determine whether the new reservation time is significantly different from the old time?

Calculate the statistic for the test you indicated above and determine whether the statistic is significant. Then, write a sentence to explain the result of the statistical test. Use a two sided test with alpha = .05.(Do your best to show your work but don't worry too much about not having *exact* mathematical notation. Do, however, make it clear what your final answer is!)

Dr. d wanted to see how much students learn over the course of a semester. A pre-test was given before the class begins to see what students knew about statistics ahead of time, and the same test was given at the end of the semester to see what students knew at the end.

What type of statistical test would be used to test this hypothesis?

One of the factors that a company will use in determining whether it will locate a new Italian restaurant at a particular location is its distance from local college students. The managers believe that an important measure of distance is the average walking time from the most popular bar in town.   For a particular site, they believe that if the mean walking time is 8 minutes. To test this in a particular location, a random sample of n = 50...

A graduate student believed that, on the average, college students spend more time on the Internet compared to the rest of the population. She conducted a study to determine if her hypothesis was correct. The student randomly surveyed 25 students and found that the average amount of time spent on the Internet was 11.75 hours per week with a SD = 1.5 hours. The last census found that, on the average, people spent 11 hour per week on the Internet....
